Johnson makes big impression on a top 10 national player

His teammates call him T-Ferg...

It's good to see Avery Johnson in his old stomping grounds. He's in Texas talking with Terrence Ferguson. TF is from Dallas, Texas. He is 6-6/7 and is a light 182 lbs. He is rated as the 6th best player in the class of 2016. How good is he? He carries 5 stars. He is a two guard. From watching videos of him I'd say he's a good shooter. His range? When he walks in the gym he can drain it. His teammates call him T-Ferg because he can kill a defense with his shooting and moves. He was a member of the under 16 USA National team. Alabama, Baylor, and Kansas are his top three.

Here is the first recruit that I can point to and say that Johnson's NBA coaching is a factor in considering Alabama. In fact, one sports web site now project him to Alabama. Why? He loves Avery Johnson. He loves Johnson's NBA background. Some basketball gurus say he is he real deal and the next big deal in high school basketball. He plays for Prime Prep Academy in Dallas. PPA is undergoing some major scrutiny from the Texas Board of Education. They recently closed the school. The lanky sharpshooter goes to the PPA to practice his shooting. His daily goal? To make a 1000 shots a day. I'm talking about making 1000 and not just shooting 1000. I don't know if that's even possible. If it's true that shows more than a dedication to basketball. It let's everyone know that he is going to play in the NBA one day. Experts see him as a potential one and done if he can be bigger. His growth plates are still viable, and he could end up 6-9.
