TIDE GETS ANOTHER SHOT AT FLORIDA Today
Alabama is physically over-matched today
Can Tide Seniors pull out a win?
The Tide has a chance to win a couple of more games (and lose a couple) this season. Only one team is going to leave the NIT and NCAA undefeated. It all starts with a win over Florida. The Tide was a 4 point dog today. I'm surprised it isn't more. You have to give some real credit to the players for hanging around. I'd bet the Tider players would like to beat Florida for their coach. With all the talk swirling around Grant's future I know the players are upset. A couple told me exactly that. So does any of that matter? I doubt it.
Florida has won the last ten meetings. Florida beat Bama 52-50 when Levi's last second shot was blocked by Dorian Finney-Smith. I put no stock in a team winning consecutive games giving a team an edge. It's just the talent on the floor. I think that Florida has the talent edge in this one. One thing that Anthony Grant teams seem to avoid are blowouts. I remember the Gottfried games when getting blown out happened frequently. Tommorrow's game is going to come down to three things: Can Alabama keep Michael Frazier quiet? Can the Tide come close to breaking even on the boards? Can the Tide control the temp of the game. If Alabama can do those three things they win. If they aren't able to do those we get beat. I think Florida will beat Bama by 6 points. So far the team that Grant has cobbled together has played about as well as possible. One thing seems certain. It probably will be the final win in the Tournament regardless who wins. Bama's 18-13 record might be considered a little deceiving in some ways. First, The Tide had to play Kentucky twice. Second, so many games was razor's edge close. A shot here or there, a few more made free throw in two games killed the Crimson. I don't even want to talk about injuries
