Greensboro knocked out of Final Four though...
I took some time off to wander down to the BJCC to watch our new recruit, Jimmie Taylor in the Final Four. He plays in the AAA division and his team was 30-2 and ranked number one. They lost Taylor and only scored six (6) points. Disappointing? For Greensboro, I'm sure. For Alabama fans that doesn't begin to tell the whole story . I think most of knew he was strong on the defensive end of the floor, but his offense needed some work. That's true. I suspect his low scoring average is Greensboro's inability to get the ball into the post.
It was hard to watch Greensboro play. It was like having a Ferrai parked in the garage but not having the keys. On defense, the young man rebounded and blocked shots. He also altered at least 10 shots which caused missed shots. But, his teammates couldn't get the ball to him. Credit Madison Academy for causing that. They shadowed him all night, and denied him from touching the ball. Madsion is four time State Champion and isn't afraid of the crowd or the hype. They were poised from the start. Greensboro got their butt kicked on the coaching end in my opinion. I'm not intimating their head man isn't a good coach, but coaches have bad nights just like shooters. Bad place for it to happen.
Taylor is mobile, very quick, and has some serious hops. Think Nerlins Noel with his offside help and great timing to block shots. I didn't think Greensboro's outide defenders took full advantage of his presence. That might help explain Josh Landford -6-5-ninth grader who is perhap the best 9th grader player in America, explode for 30. In all honesty, he could put up 30 almost any night. He plays small forward but he'll be a two in college, unless he grows. If this kid ends up at 6-8 or so he's a one and done prospect. Alabama is all over him. Coach Hipsher was watching him play, along with four or five other ACC/SEC assistants. Hipster has been given the responsibility of recruiting this young phenom. If he doesn't recruit a single other play, but gets Josh, he's done his job
And a word of advice for Wendall Hudson. If you don't start seriously recruiting Oneonta's Destiny Elliot, 5-1l, Jr. you should be drawn and quartered. back to Tider Insider
