THIS TEAM CAN SHOOT AND SCORE ...

ALABAMA LIGHTS IT UP

Short and sweet for a late night snack. After watching the opening scrimmage for the Tide, I see absolutely nothing that makes me think this isn't going to be a really special team. This bunch can score and it won't come in dribbles, it will
come in the form of bushels and numerous wins. There is no odd man out on the entire team. Once more for emphasis, there doesn't appear to be one man who can't score on the roster.
All in all, it was a good outing that should make Alabama fans, thirsty for success on the hardwood, happy campers. John Petty answered a lot of my questions about how good he can be. The answer to that is really good, as in All-SEC Freshman good as a lock, and perhaps one step up the ladder. Collin Sexton is transformative. I have never seen an Alabama player who has the all around game this young mans brings to the Capstone.

1. Can he shoot and score?     Yep
2. Can he play defense?          Yep
3. Can he pass the ball?          Yep
4. Can he create space?          Yep
5. Can he be an All-American? Yep, with the caveat, he stays around for a while
6. Are we glad to have him?    Oh, yeah.
7. Did Johnson become a better coach?  LOL. He sure did.

Just for the record that is five yeps, one Oh, yeah, and one He sure did. In my talk, that means over twenty wins and a sneak preview of just where Johnson is taking this program.

One other thing needs to be pointed out - Dazon Ingram didn't play. I don't know why. Someone said he was injured but no one could or would answer my question about why he wasn't playing. How good can this team be if Dazon plays? The answer to that is better. Perhaps bigly better.

MOST VALUABLE PERSON ON THE FLOOR TONIGHT? Avery Johnson. When I first suggested a couple of years ago that Johnson would be a good fit there was laughter in the room. A lot of people are laughing now but for an entirely different reason.

UPDATE: Ingram has a foot injury and may miss Canada trip. Johnson says "it is precautionary"
