TIDE NEEDS WIN AT HOME IN BIG WAY

Obasahan gets the green light...
Tarrant unlikely...
Vandy returns best shooter...

Cooper has played well this season
and his shooting 41% from the arc

Anthony Grant told the press that Retin Obasahan's infection had improved enough to be on the floor for tonight's game against Vanderbilt. That's good news for the Tide. Vandy got some equally good news when it was disclosed that SEC three-time Freshman of the Week, Riley LaChance, was greenlighted by the Vandy medical staff to return to play. That makes Alabama's defensive game plan even tougher. LaChance is an outise bomber. He's 6-2 and weighs a fireplug tough 200 lbs. Some think he is Vandy's best player. I don't know whether that's true but is presence makes the Tides inside defenders job that much harder.
Randolph needs to play well
tonight..

LaChance is making almost 40% of his three point attempts and is averaging 12.5 points per game. That's second on the Commodore team. Damian Jones, the quickly improving 6-10 center is averaging 15 ppg. He is also the 'Dores leading rebounder with 6.7 a game. LaChance is also making 85% of his free throws. When you watch Vandy play the only question in my mind is how this highly talented bunch has lost 11 games. The Commodores are much like the Crimson Tide. They have lost a ton of close games. Their 13-11 record could easily be 18-6. Just like the Tide it seems that the Commodores cannot cannot hold on to win the close games, and have seen their record suffer as a result.

LaChance is a great shooter
Don't let those 11 loses make you think that tonight's game will be easy for the Tide. It won't be. Basketball is a game of match-ups, and this is one game that Alabama doesn't seem to match-up well all that well. Grant probably isn't worried about Vandy. He is worried about his team. The loss of Tarrant, perhaps for the season (?) makes his job only harder. Mississippi State exposed some of Alabama's freshman jitters in the closing minutes in the game. Hopefully, Bama's three freshman will have settled down after that end of game lesson. Not much has been written about Devon Mitchell in the State game. He came in and played well. Made no mistakes, and while he didn't score a lot of points he played his limited role very well. It made me fell a lot better to see him in action. Michell is going to help the Tide in the future. With the loss of Tarrant, it is imperative that every Tide player fullfills his defined role.

Alabama has played well at home, but has two losses. One of those was against Kentucky, the other was a loss to Florida which hurt the teams's run for the NCAA. A third home loss will end the Tide's hopes of making it to the Dance. Vandy has three big players that are going to give Taylor and Kessens fits. Davis in particular has become agreesive in taking the ball to the baskets. When anyone double teams down low he finds the open man on the perimeter. l like Bama by five.
