NO PROBLEM - KENTUCKY BEATS BAMA...
TIDE DIDN'T QUIT...

Levi has another good game...
Kentucky beat Alabama 70-55 in Lexington before a sellout crowd. The Wildcats shot almost 60% from the floor. Alabama started the game with a combination of turnovers, and an inability to shoot the ball. I don't mean they missed a lot of shots in the first ten minutes. They literally could not take shots. Of course, the Tide was playing perhaps the best basketball team in the history of the NCAA. Ricky Tarrant was sidelined with a leg injury, but that made no difference. Alabama just doesn't have the talent to compete with the Wildcats, but who does?

I know the Wildcats had some close games early in the season. Now, they have matured, play together, and play the best defense I've ever seen. You can't blame Anthony Grant for anything that happend in Lexington, unless you say he doesn't recruit like John Calipari. No one can recruit like Calipari. Rumors abound about his golden touch in in signing top prospect. No one has stepped forward to offer any proof.

Still, I give credit to the Tide for refusing to quit. Whether you want to or not you have to give Grant credit for not letting his team get beat by 30. Kentucky made no effort to ease up on Bama. It seemed the Tide got over their slow start and played some good basketball in the second half.Kentukcy wasn't bring in walkons to finish the game. All they have are high school All Americans. The Tide was playing a team like no one has ever seen before. The Wildcats outscored Alabama by only 2 points. It certainly was the best half the Crimson has played lately.

Shannon Hale looked like he is ready to start playing well. He drove into the heavy traffic and took his lumps for doing so. Then he made some freethrows. He also knocked down a couple of long range three pointers as well. Jimmie Taylor only took three shots. He made all three including an offensive rebound in heavy traffic. Levi Randolph had another solid game.He stopped the bleeding in the first half with some key baskets. No one expected the Tide to play the Wildcats this close, especially with RT on the bench. It wasn't a win but at least the kids didn't quit. I'm more interested in whether the Tide can bounce back after a horrible stretch and prove to fans they have improved from last season. I don't think they will fold and just go away. There is a lot of basketball left in the season. All in all, you have to give Kentucky the credit. Even though they play kids with no expectation of actually getting an education, they are excellent players. They have an excellent coach who can take freshmen and make them unbeatable. Throw in the sprinkly of the rare senior, and a couple of sophomore guards, and you have something very special.
